WHAT IS PRODUCT CERTIFICATION?

According to ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 17000, Certification is the “attestation carried out by a third party, relating to an object of conformity assessment with the exception of accreditation”. Attestation, in turn, is the “issuance of a declaration, based on a decision, that compliance with specified requirements has been demonstrated.

In other words, Certification is a technical means used by IDEAL OCP to communicate to the client and other interested parties that the requirements established in technical standards or regulations or normative instructions have been met. It is the way to ensure the conformity of a product.

There are two types of certifications within the Brazilian Conformity Assessment System: Voluntary and Compulsory Certifications.

Compulsory certification is an activity carried out by the State, through a regulatory authority, when it is understood that the product, process or service may pose risks to the safety and health of the consumer or the environment or even, in some cases, when the performance of the product, if inadequate, can bring economic losses to society. The satisfactory result of this activity leads to the granting of certification and the right to use the Conformity Seal on its products.

Voluntary certification is when the decision to carry it out is made by the supplier. In Voluntary Assessment, the company itself decides whether or not to assess the conformity of its products, in accordance with the provisions of a technical standard.

HOW TO PERFORM PRODUCT CERTIFICATION

The certification scheme consists of a set of rules, practices and procedures that IDEAL OCP carries out for its clients in order to ensure which commitments the audited organizations must accept and enforce. For the certification process to be completed, we must follow the following steps:

1. Customer request and request analysis

The interested client must contact IDEAL OCP through our communication channels in order to receive all the necessary support to send the necessary and sufficient documentation to enter the certification process. Based on the documentation, IDEAL OCP will begin a critical analysis of the initial documentation received. If any deviation is found (non-compliance with the requirement or lack of certain documents) our team will formally communicate with the client so that they can make the necessary corrections and send them for a new analysis.

2. Commercial proposal and contract

After the initial critical analysis and, if the documentation meets the requested requirements, IDEAL OCP will send the client a commercial proposal, which is an essential document to consolidate a business and take the first steps towards a successful commercial relationship. , thus presenting the objective, descriptions of the services that will be performed as well as the amounts involved, followed by the issuance of a product certification contract which mentions rules, rights and obligations for both the client and IDEAL OCP.

3. Preparation of certification planning and audit plan

Planning will begin with the preparation of an audit plan. This plan will foresee all the activities that will be properly carried out to achieve the objective.

4. Factory audit, sample collection and laboratory

At this stage, the planned factory audit will be carried out with the objective of verifying the effective implementation of the quality management system of the production process of the object (product) of certification, based on the requirements of ABNT NBR ISO 9001 as well as the collection of samples and sending them to the laboratory.

5. Analysis of the process and certification decision

Once in possession of all documentation, IDEAL OCP will begin a critical analysis of all process records and decide on certification.

6. Issuance of the certificate of conformity

Once the decision for certification has been favorable, IDEAL OCP will issue the Certificate of Conformity for the products and send it to the customer.

7. Maintenance

After completion and issuance of the Certificate of Conformity, IDEAL OCP will carry out maintenance assessments in order to verify whether the technical-organizational conditions that gave rise to the initial granting of certification continue to be met. The frequency and criteria for maintenance must follow those determined in the specific procedures for the scope in question.
